Limited Pollys

Limited pollys are posted in DMs or 🔒 private channels that Polly is not a member of, and have limited functionality compared to regular pollys.

What are limited pollys?

Limited pollys are basic-featured pollys that Polly publishes in direct message and 🔒private channels that Polly is not a part of. For example, if you are in a conversation with @jane and initiate a poll with the /polly command, then that published polly will be considered a limited polly.

If you’d like to create a full-featured polly between you and @jane , your best bet is to create a multi-person direct message, inviting both @jane and @polly.

How do I do know whether I have created a limited polly or a regular polly?

When authoring a polly in a direct message or a 🔒private channel, polly will let you know that you are creating a limited polly. 

What functionalities are not available in limited pollys?

Since limited pollys take place between you and your teammates, and Polly is not part of that conversation, Polly is unable to complete a few actions that are normally available in other channels, including: 

• recurring and scheduled pollys
• ability to dynamically close a polly
• send a reminder, or
• perform other similar actions

Limited pollys will generally not show up in any /polly actions, however they are still available in your web app dashboard. In the web dashboard, they have "limited" tag appearing next to them with only 2 options available - Re-send, Save as Template. 

Deleting Limited Pollys

When creating limited pollys, we’ll also attach a delete button. Since deletes cannot be triggered by an external action, the only way to delete the polly will be if the author clicks the delete button. Other users that attempt to delete the message will get an error message returned to them.
