Getting Started
Core concepts

To install Polly for Zoom Apps, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Zoom Account
Zoom Apps are currently only available for use if hosts sign in using their Zoom accounts. Sign up for a free Zoom account using the link here. If you already have a Zoom account then you can also install Polly through this link here.

Note: For non-single account users (e.g. multi-account users, Enterprise, Edu) the app needs to be pre-approved by your admin before you can use it. User needs to "Request Pre-approval”, which invokes the request process and says the request has been made. This can be done both via Zoom apps marketplace (for signed in users) as well as within Zoom client.

  2. Navigate to the Apps section of Zoom, or visit the Zoom App Marketplace
Open Zoom on your computer, and click the Apps icon from the menu at the top of the window besides the Meetings and Contacts icons. From here, search for Polly and then click on the Polly for Zoom Apps icon to install the Zoom App.

Note: Zoom apps are currently available for use with laptop/desktop clients. Attendees signing into meetings using their phones will not be able to interact with pollys sent out in the meeting.

Enable Zoom Apps
: Zoom apps are currently available by default for single account users. Edu, enterprise and multi - user accounts require admin approval prior to download. Approval request to admin can be sent via the zoom marketplace  Once the admin enables/approves the request, the individuals can install apps. This change can be made within the organization’s Zoom settings.

Check your Zoom app’s version: Make sure you’re on Zoom Version: 6.2.1 (292). Check your version by going to the “About Zoom'' section. Not on the latest version? No problem! Here's how you can upgrade.

Double-check that you are logged in to your Zoom account. You may need to leave your meeting, log in to Zoom, then return in order to resolve any issues.

Note: Zoom Apps are currently not available for the Zoom mobile app.

Polly Q&A

Bid adios to the traditional, top- down, one-way form of communication by using Polly Q/A feature.

Polly Q&A provides a structured environment for your audience to engage in a two-way communication, effectively bridging the gap between employees and c-level position holders and allowing for open communication and transparency at all levels in an organization.

Polly’s Q&A feature enables employees to ask questions in a ‘safe space’ as the fact that people can actually type up questions and even stay anonymous only means reduced friction (no one is a fan of muting/unmuting in a big meeting or continuing to wait for a turn) and increased inclusivity (not everyone wants to speak up in a town hall!).

Polly allows the audience to upvote approved questions, meaning the audience can actually decide which questions get priority over others. This will reduce time spent addressing questions that could be taken on an individual level.

The result? A happier, motivated, and engaged audience.

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Click on Apps Icon in the bottom menu bar
  2. Select Polly from the apps installed
  3. Click on the ‘Create a Polly’ button
  4. Select ‘Q&A’ from the options available.
  5. Type in a message for your audience to alert them of the Q&A feature.
  6. Polly Q&A feature, allows:
    1. Pre-approval of questions, meaning: you or any co-host can approve the questions before displaying them to the participants. The dismissed questions won't appear to the rest of the participants as only approved questions appear. This feature has a $96 annual subscription fee.
    2. Upvoting of questions, meaning the audience can upvote approved questions so that the ones that get the most ‘upvotes’ get priority over others.
  7. Participants have the option to submit their questions anonymously or non-anonymously
  8. You or any co-host can choose to ‘Dismiss’  or ‘Reply Privately’
  9. Save For Later / Launch Now
  10. Creators can choose to Dismiss or Reply Privately to the questions submitted.
