Collaborator permissions for Slack pollys, Quizzes and Q&A
Learn what Owners and collaborators can do on polls, surveys, quizzes and Q&A created from Slack.
Overview
When you add a collaborator to a polly created from Slack, you choose Can View or Can Manage. The person who created the polly is its Owner. Q&A works a little differently and has a single collaborator level.
| Role | In short |
|---|---|
| Owner | The creator. Full control. |
| Can Manage | Works on the polly alongside the Owner: edits, sends, shares results and manages collaborators. |
| Can View | Sees results and exports them, without making changes. |
This article covers pollys created from Slack and managed on the Polly web dashboard. Presentations, and pollys created on Polly on the web, use different roles. See Roles and permissions for Teams and presentations.
Add a collaborator
- Open the Polly web dashboard and choose the polly.
- Click Share, then open the Collaborators tab.
- Enter a colleague's Slack name, or pick a Slack user group.
- Choose Can View or Can Manage, and confirm.
The polly now appears in their dashboard too. Come back to the same tab anytime to change someone's access or remove them.

These roles also apply to recurring pollys, templates and workflows. Each role includes everything the role above it can do.

Good to know
- Paid plans only. Adding collaborators is available on paid plans. You can only add people on a paid plan in the workspace where the polly was created.
- The polly keeps the Owner's name. It still goes out under the Owner's name, even when a collaborator edits or sends it.
- Highest access wins. If someone has access directly and through a Slack user group, they get whichever level is higher.
- Slack user groups. Groups can be added as Can Manage or Can View on polls, surveys, quizzes and recurring pollys, but only as collaborators on Q&A. A group with Can Manage can't delete a poll or survey. See Collaborating with Slack User Groups.
- Transferring ownership. Ownership can't be transferred or removed in the product, and collaborators can't leave on their own. If someone is leaving your company, contact Polly Support.
